Can VELFAC windows meet the targets outlined in Part L of the Building Regulations and what U-value can they achieve?

Answer
The VELFAC composite aluminium and wood window can achieve a U-value as low as 1.10W/m²K for the glass area, and 1.54W/m²K for the whole unit - easily meeting the current standard of 2.2W/m²K. This low figure is the result of an innovative frame design which exploits the insulating properties of wood and gas-filled double-glazing with low emissivity glass, whilst still delivering the durability of aluminium externally.
