Understanding the Green Guide
Of growing importance to specifiers of all building types, the BRE Green Gruide provides an environmental analysis of building materials, including windows - although it does not give any consideration to U-values or other types of performance.
Understanding how to use the ratings contained in the Green Guide and establishing the contribution in terms of credits for the BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) schemes, can be complex. Windows also contribute to many other areas of BREEAM and CSH, especially Energy consumption, so it is critical to understand this in order to properly specify appropriate products, and not focus purely on the Green Guide rating.
